Le Comité exécutif a la tristesse de vous annoncer le décès de Birgitte MØLLER survenu le 15 juin 2024 au Danemark.
De formation juridique, elle a été administrateur au Ministère danois des affaires étrangères de 1972 à 1988. Elle a exercé au PNUD les fonctions d'administrateur hors classe chargé des relations extérieures d’avril 1988 à novembre 1989. Nommée en 1999 Directeur de la Division des fonds-en-dépôt au Bureau du financement extrabudgétaire, elle s'est vue confier en avril 2000 la Direction du Bureau.
A noter, en complément de ces informations, qu'elle avait en outre cumulé les fonctions de Secrétaire de la Conférence générale entre 2004 et 2006 avec celles de Directrice du Bureau/Division des ressources extrabudgétaires (2000-2008), démontrant par là une capacité de travail hors-pair reconnue de tous à commencer par le DG qui l'avait choisie précisément pour ces raisons.
Elle avait ainsi piloté avec une remarquable efficacité la 33e session de la CG, l'une des plus complexes post 2000 avec un ODJ très chargé (adoption de nouveaux textes normatifs dont la Convention 2005 sur la diversité culturelle et celle sur l'antidopage dans le sport, réélection du DG pour 4 ans, préparation du 60e anniversaire UNESCO, etc.).
Après son départ à la retraite en mai 2008, elle a repris des fonctions de conseiller au ministère des affaires étrangères du Danemark jusqu'en 2014. Elle était depuis consultante indépendante.
Elle a été nommée Vice-Présidente du Comex de l’AAFU en juin 2023 où elle a montré toute sa générosité et son sens de l’engagement. Elle nous a offert son énergie, son enthousiasme, son efficacité, ses nombreuses compétences sans oublier son humour et son franc- parler.
Quelle belle âme !Le monde est plus pauvre sans elle.

DEATH OF BIRGITTE MØLLER
Dear colleagues,
The Executive Committee is sad to announce the death of Birgitte MØLLER on June 15, 2024 in Denmark.
Trained in law, she was an administrator at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1972 to 1988. She served as senior administrator in charge of external relations at UNDP from April 1988 to November 1989. Appointed Director of the Division in 1999 funds-in-trust at the Extrabudgetary Financing Office, in April 2000 she was entrusted with the management of the Office.
In addition to this information, she had also combined the functions of Secretary of the General Conference between 2004 and 2006 with those of Director of the Office/Division of Extrabudgetary Resources (2000-2008), thereby demonstrating an ability outstanding work recognized by everyone, starting with the DG who had chosen her precisely for these reasons.
She had thus piloted with remarkable efficiency the 33rd session of the GC, one of the most complex post-2000 with a very busy ODJ (adoption of new normative texts including the 2005 Convention on cultural diversity and that on anti-doping in the sport, re-election of the DG for 4 years, preparation for the 60th UNESCO anniversary, etc.).
After her retirement in May 2008, she returned to advisory roles at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2014. She has been an independent consultant since then.
She was appointed Vice-President of the AFUS Executive Committee in June 2023 where she showed all her generosity and sense of commitment. She offered us her energy, her enthusiasm, her efficiency, her many skills without forgetting her humor and her frankness.
What a beautiful soul! The world is poorer without her.
